Planning Your Wedding Timeline (Without the Stress)
3 - 4 Minute Read
Let’s talk about the thing no one gets excited about...
Your timeline.
I know. Not exactly the fun part.
But this is quietly one of the biggest factors in how your day feels… and how your photos turn out.
Not in a “everything must be perfect” way.
More in a “a few smart decisions make everything easier” way.
The biggest mistake couples make
Trying to fit too much into not enough time.
It’s very easy to underestimate how long things take on a wedding day.
Hair and makeup runs late.
People go missing.
Someone can’t find their shoes.
Suddenly everything is 20 minutes behind and now the whole day feels rushed.
That’s when stress creeps in.
And that’s when photos start to feel forced instead of natural.
The fix is simple
Buffer time.
Not loads of it. Just enough.
Think of it as breathing room.
The couples who build this in:
- feel calmer
- enjoy more of the day
- and never feel like they’re being rushed from one thing to the next
It’s one of those small things that makes a very big difference.
A very real example

A summer wedding:
- Ceremony at 2pm
- Speeches earlier in the day
- Loads of soft evening light to work with
A winter wedding:
- Ceremony at 1pm
- Light fading by 3:30pm
- Much less flexibility
Same structure. Completely different outcome.
That’s why timing matters.
We can always structure your timeline to suit the time of year, and we will always make the most of the light we have.
And just to say, this isn’t me saying one is better than the other.
Winter weddings have a completely different feel. The light is often sharper, moodier, and honestly, some of my favourite images have come from that.
Is it slightly less predictable? Maybe.
But this is England. That applies to every season.
Time for photos (without it feeling like a photoshoot)
I’ll usually take you away for around 15 minutes, twice in the day.
That’s it.
No long awkward sessions. No disappearing for hours.
But…
If there’s somewhere specific you want to go, or something you really want included, I just need to know beforehand.
Because if it takes 10 minutes to get there, that needs to be part of the plan.
Otherwise it’s giving “quick detour” that somehow becomes stressful.
A quick note on ideas
I love seeing what you’re drawn to.
But the best way to send things over is all in one go.
Not:
- one reel on Monday
- another on Thursday
- three more at 11:47pm
It’s giving chaos.
Save everything you like, send it through before our timeline call, and I’ll actually be able to use it properly.
What we’ll do together
We’ll go through your plans and build a timeline that:
- works for your day
- allows things to flow naturally
- gives you space to actually enjoy it
Nothing rigid.
Nothing overplanned.
Just something that makes sense.
The goal
A day that feels relaxed.
Not rushed.
Not over-structured.
Not like you’re constantly checking the time.
Because when it feels like that…
Everything else falls into place.
If you’re unsure about anything
Just ask.
I’d always rather help you plan it properly now than try to fix it on the day.
